Artist D.Will
D.Will signature of Darnel L.Williams,
Born in Saginaw MI, in 1978, and raised in Flint MI until college.
I graduated from Alma College in 2002 with a degree in art and design,
focusing on painting and related sources.
I began my life as an artist when I was six years old.
I started, with simple drawing and tracing. Than around the age of ten,
I began to free hand, mostly cartoon and still life. I became a painter
shortly after, creating landscapes and indoor scenery. I didn't start
collaborating art with music until
just before college, where I found, mixing hip hop and R&B
increased my creative thinking. Before long, I started connecting the
sounds of different kinds of music, which becomes a form within my art.
The focus was to collaborate the influence of music with color and
motion. By using the sound of music and the combination of colors, I am
able to integrate
forms and show emotion within my work. It was my hope to give my
audience a “feel good thought”, a sense of good
times and happy occasion. I want to imitate the music I am listening to
at the time, with the process of their creation.
Taking the necessary colors to show that sound, rather than placing
complementary color together, in order to get the meaning across.
Placing colors that would not otherwise fit together gives the
vibration of the sound a form that can be seen, allowing it to imitate
emotions. Then the motion of the painting itself is the connector of
music and color. I try to make the audience see what the music is doing
to the form in the hopes that it will do the same to them.
